Anmol,

You should publish your papers or a copy Open Access in NDT.net instead that we have to pay $25 for to read your papers or for ASNT members only.

Cal Block CRA

Paul,
Here are the steps.
1. Calibration Block - Should have three 2.5 mm side drilled holes at T/4, T/2, 3T/4 and one 2 mm ID root notch in CRA. See attached
2. Remove Weld Cap
3. You will need the following probes - Dual element 4 or 5 MHz L-wave 45 deg, 60 deg and 70 degree. 4 or 5 MHz Single Element shear wave 45 degrees
4. Calibrate L-wave probes on side drilled holes. Calibrate shear wave on the ID notch
5. Remove weld cap before scanning welds for inspection.
7. Scanning is limited to 1/2 vee so you will scan from top of weld cap to get 100% coverage
8. Inspect weld volume with L-wave. Inspect ID connected indication with shear wave

Phased will be better of you have the machine
Good Luck.
