Typical list of consumables for AUT job for 48" pipe

Does anyone have a list of what the consumables would be for a PipeWizard for a 48" pipeline, for about
one year? Things such as gel, transducer replacements, etc.

Other than wedges that need replacement anything can happen with mechanical equipment. And it depends on how critical the job is and how long you wait for replacement parts for shipping and clear customs. For the most critical job which is pipe lay, a full spare system is needed. For onshore, it will be as needed from the supplier but you should have some spares related to scanner, spring fixtures in scanner, encoder etc.

Thanks. That helps. Trying set a budget for a pretty big onshore job with AUT Phased Array and TOFD.
Any tips are appreciated.

Having previously been on the other end of this kind of question many times when I was quoting customers at Sonatest, I would echo Anmols comments.

Be very realistic about what your supplier can provide. Anything that will wear out or is easily damaged like cables you should hold yourself, anything else that could fail, or get lost in shipment... Think very hard about where you can get a replacement, and how quickly. And what that loss of time would cost.

If you have only one system and you have pretty big job, then this is is most likely scenario.

Something bad will happen in the first 60 days and your system will be dead.
After that you will be on the phone with the manufacturer trying to figure what happened ? that is assuming it is not a weekend.
Then the manufacturer will ship parts. They will then get stuck in the customs. You will be down for a week and your client would have lost all his/her patience and extremely upset.

So, my advise is to get a spare.

This is what I would recommend. You should first order one system, run tests in your shop for at least 30 days so you are thoroughly familiar with the operation.
Once the job starts, order the 2nd system. That way you have some cash flow. Moreover in case of emergency, the manufacturer will be more willing to ship you his spares if you have a system that is on order.

Anyway, these systems are custom made and not like a Toyota or Mercedes.

I think it is a mandatory decision to address a job with a complete PW as a spare unit. If you have any failure which is not just immediately managed with standard spares, then you are in trouble.

My advice would be to hire an experienced consultant to work with you on your quote with a view to the same person Project Managing the scope if awarded. Some of the questions asked would lead me to think you may be a little out of your depth on the AUT and thus could make a mess of the quote causing untold harm to organisations and reputations.

Hi chuck
Considering the diameter and a one year duration, everything that touches the pipe will need to be replaced at least 4 times, PA wedges, tofd wedges, bands, idler wheels etc.
The 2nd system mentioned is essential so you can continue to scan welds while you repair the first "broken" system.
You will then have "spare" PA transducers and ToFD in your spare system, but I would recommend to have almost a third system ready in spare parts...
I hope this helps.
Cheers
