Small EMAT sensor

Does anyone make small(5x5mm) shear wave EMAT with frequency up to 5MHz? We have RITEC RAM10000 for a pulser and BR640 for a receiver.

Hello Koichiro Kawashima,

Panametrics NDT, a business of R/D Tech Instruments Instruments, Inc. manufactures a magnetostrictive EMAT sensor that is approximately 2.25 MHz and 1/2" element diameter. This EMAT is designed for use with a conventional ultrasonic flaw detector, not a Lorentz Force EMAT pulser.

Keep in mind, the magnetostrictive principle that our E110-SB utilizes only works if the parts have a coating of high temperature oxide scale, which acts as the active element. The transducer will not work on clean metals. Please contact R/D Tech for additional information.

Re: Small EMAT sensor
Sonatest can also supply similar a transducer (EMAT-0.5STD) with similar limitations. Side entry Cable, overall height around 25mm

Re: Small EMAT sensor
Call the people from IzfP... they have developed a nice system which we now evaluate ... looks promizing as it works nicely...
Even transducers show an interestng behaviour - but you need their electronics...
All other stuff we had seen before, did not cover our needs and looked vey experimental, this is now a nice approach to EMAT for mobile carry-on inspection....

Dear Koichiro Kawashima,
we manufacture an EMAT system suited to applications such as thickness measure, and residual stress evaluation.
EMAT probe for shear horizontal thickness 0° wave (3-4 MHz)has active area of 6x6 mm, external case about 30 mm diameter. A dual axis probe (two crossing linear polarization) is exploited for residual stress evaluation (see article on ndt.net - direct link below.
Additional info and documentation available: which is your target application?
Regards
