Difference between two MPT method

What is difference between Yoke and Prod method.

One (prod) is a current flow technique, and the other (yoke) is a magnetic field flow technique. Prods make electrical contact with the specimen, can impart arcing damage, and induces circular magnetic fields around each of the two contact points. An electromagnetic yoke has a north and south pole when energized, has no chance of arcing at specimen contact points, and produces a longitudinal field between the two contact points.

according to astm 709, prods is direct magnetization and direct contact, while yoke use indirect magnetization and same direct contact
