Image quality level 2-2T - reg

In RT, standard Image Quality Level 2-2T, first 2 denotes IQI thickness is no more than 2% of the specimen thickness and the 2T denotes the diameter of the required IQI hole is 2xT. In ASME-V; IQI selection table -T276, 2% of the specimen thickness not meets up to hole type IQI 35. For example while taking RT DWDI on tube butt weld of 8 mm thick, Hole type IQI selected is 15 Thou. The actual IQI thick is 0.38mm. But the specimen’s 2% thick is 0.16mm. In radiograph 2T hole is visible. The IQI thickness is more than 2% of the specimen thickness. Then how can we say 2-2T image quality level? Kindly explain.

2-2T defines the quality level (or 2% sensitivity level); and for the 2-2T penetrameter, the thickness is "no more" than 2% of specimen thickness

Wrong perception, my Friend. ASME -V, IQI selection Table - 276 does not state it is prepared to meet 2-2T quality level. If u are working to meet a specific quality level like 2-2T, u have to select IQI whose thickness is not more than 2% of the single wall thickness. U can add allowable reinforcement, if ts welding. Do not refer to Table-276 here.

To acheive 2-2T quality level in 8mm thick specimen, u should use ASTM 5 plaque hole type IQI.

This one I need sir. Thank you very much. Is the following statement is right? If I am using 17 Thou IQI for 11mm weld thick (8mm +3 mm reinforcement) and the 2T hole seen in the radiograph, then the Image quality level is 4-2T.
