CSA Z662 -> ASME B31.1

CSA Z662 turns to ASME B31.3 when it comes to building compressor stations... My question is, does the NDE still need to meet the requirements of CSA (CGSB) or can they go to the requirements of ASME (SNT-TC-1A)?

Joshua, ASME requirements for NDT will all ultimately direct you to ASME BPVC Section V. The requirements for personnel certification are typically requirements of the written Procedure that are to accompany any work done in compliance with ASME requirements. E.g. the first item in the list of Procedure items in the the Scope of Article 4 is (a) personnel qualification/certification requirements.
But the details are to be obtained from the "referencing Code Section. In the case of B31.3 we read the requirements in a footnote to para. 342.1 "For this purpose, SNT-TC-1A, Recommended Practice for Nondestructive Testing Personnel Qualification and Certification, may be used as a guide."
So B31.3 is only providing a "guide". However, the over-riding rules for NDT are to be found in ASME V Article 1 where you see that T-120 paragraph (f) makes provision for ACCP or ISO 9712 to fulfill the training, experience, and examination requirements of the documents listed in (e) as specified in the employer’s written practice.

mances of portable X-Ray sets. Despite having managed to halve the weight of similar portable X-Ray generators available on the market (while continuing to provide the same power output), the SITEX CPSERIES generators feature a shutter, a laser pointer, a beryllium window, an aluminum filter and two integrated diaphragms (customized sizes are available upon request). Without compromising the robustness and reliability for which ICM products are renowned, the small size and light weight of the SITEX CPSERIES will radically change the way that you perform your RT inspections. And you will see a positive impact in terms of both quality and return on investment (ROI).
