Effects of grain size and arrangements of grain in ultrasonic

Please explain me what are effect of grain size and its arrangements of grain size of steel in ultrasonic testing.how please explain in details.

Scattering is more if wave length is less than one third of grain size. Me too looking for some useful links to study about this.

Larger the grain size, higher is the attenuation

The following paper may respond some of your questions. It will show how back-scattered signals are changing in a response to the grain morphology of the weld structure.
