Wet Continuous method by Coil magnetization

Hello,

I am looking for kind help to understand about the '' Continuous Technique / Method '' to magnetize & check the object (coupling ) by Coil . After read theory about the Wet Continuous method from ASTM E709-15 , its going bit hard for me to implement practically . because as my understanding that process also going same as '' Residual method ''.

Please take a look i implement & give your valuable suggestion.

Residual Method: place the Central conductor through the objects ------> Magnetize by 1 pulse (shot) 1/2 second -----> Take out central conductor -----> bath by magnetic particle solution -----> place the magnetic field indicator strips -----> Verify as show 3 lines on indicator.

Wet Continuous Method: Place the object on Coil -----> Magnetize by 1 pulse (shot) 1/2 second -----> Take out object from coil & keep beside Coil -----> bath by magnetic particle solution -----> place the magnetic field indicator strips -----> Verify as show 3 lines on indicator.

It would be great appreciated to get clarify on above ASAP.

Basically, the continuous method means that the current must be switched on while the magnetic particles are being applied and remains switched on until particle application is complete and any indications have formed.
In the residual method, the current is switched on, thus magnetising the object. the current is then switched off so that only residual magnetism is present in the object. The magnetic particles are then applied.
To summarise
Continuous method: Current on - particles on, particles off, current off
Residual method: Current on, current off, particles on, particles off

If you are inspecting couplings using the central conductor method and a bench unit where the magnetising current can be maintained for several seconds, the both continuous and residual methods are possible (assuming the bench unit can provide sufficient current for the size of couplings being inspected).
If you are inspecting couplings using the central conductor method with a capacitor discharge unit which only provides a short pulse of current, then the continuous method is not possible.
