Sandeep,

If you require a procedure to calibrate an ultrasonic instrument as per ASTM E317, then you really need to task this to your Level 3.

If meeting the requirements of ASTM E317 is all you are after, then ASTM E317 contains all you need for:

Horizontal Limit and Linearity
Vertical Limit and Linearity
Resolution - Entry Surface and Far Surface
Sensitivity and Noise; Accuracy of Calibrated Gain Controls

It's quite prescriptive,so your Level 3 should have no problems distilling it down to a work instruction.

If, however, you're being audited and they've found you don't have a procedure or haven't been calibrating your instruments, a freebie procedure off the internet isn't going to help you.

Good luck,
Paul

Worth pointing out that you will also need

suitable transducers (Often a transducer permanently bonded to a block is used for linearity checks)
Test Blocks
Calibrated attenuator.
Cables / adapters etc.
And as always, you should be using this anyway, not just because an audit is imminent.

Sandeep,

You would do well to take some initiative yourself rather than ask for handouts. There are numerous procedures available on the internet which a simple Google search would reveal, and many helpful videos on Youtube that are even easier to find.

I want to know every few years you should calibrate the joke and a conventional thickness measurement ultrasound, thanks

Hi, Paul

Please, do you know if ASTM E -317 could be used like a normalized procedure to calibrate UT equipments down ISO 17025, or is it necessary to do an internal instruction?
