How can the ferrous sulfate layer affect the Eddy Current Test?

Alexandro,

You only speak of the surface layer, but don't mention the material used in the remainder of the tube.

One thing for sure, the ferrous sulfate layer will influence the Eddy Current because of the constant variation in permeability. I would therefore recommend the use of RFT for this inspection.

Presence any Fe content in a tube may influence the magnetic properties.
It require a DC coil or permanent magnet to saturate the tube before Eddy testing.

****RFET, MFL and IRIS are recommended**

The number of tubes is 15,000, the predominant material of the tubes is aluminum brass. There is another zone that has nickel cupro, but it is around 5% of the total of tubes
