Probability of detection

Dear professionals,
Please see linked document below for POD and PFA.
What does upper right point (POD=1 & PFA=1) in ROC curve mean?
By definition, POD +PFA must be unity.

Thank you

Your statement that POD + POFA must be unity is incorrect. They are independent

Example
There are 20 samples with flaws in 10.
An inspection calls flaws in all 20.
Then POD is 10/10= 1.0
POFA = 10/10 = 1.0

Reliability = POD (1-POFA) = 0

To Anmol Birring,
Yes your right. I totally mis-understood the document.
Thank you.

A quantitative result can be calculated by the probability of detection (POD) and the possibility of false alarms (PFA).

oved signal to noise ratio, characterize, size and analyze defects better with access to several wave mode views and save raw FMC data for higher quality analysis.  Some of the benefits are:
  • Beautiful Image! Easier to understand what you're looking at
  • Completely focused in entire image or volume
  • Much easier to define setups before inspection
  • Easier to decipher geometry echoes from real defects
  • Oriented defects (e.g. cracks) are imaged better
  • See image from different wave modes from one FMC inspection
  • FMC data can be reprocessed/analyzed without going back to the field
