PAUT clarification on Procedure Demonstration

Hello Expert, need clarification on ASME Section V mandatory appendix IX, clause IX 435.5 flaw location. it states " When the scan plan to be utilized subdivides a weld into multiple examination zones, a minimum of one flaw per zone is required."
So does it means when we are using scan plan to simulate than we need to subdivide the weld in multiple zone whereas actual demonstration block will have only 3 reference reflector.
For ToFD we can use applicable table and number of scan what is the base for PAUT?

There are many essential items have have affect on PAUT scan plan and number of scans for testing of welds . Depends on material type, thicknes, weld configuration is not possible to cover weld volume and HAZ by PAUT single pass scan and may you need to use multiple scans with different angles, probes(low or high frequency, elements pitch), probe stand off(half skip or full skip), wave mode (longitudinal or shear wave),... .
If you look at ASME sec VIII, div2,(or Cc 2235) 7.5.5.1 on the Note it is mentioned : single pass S-scan beams can be mis-oriented for planar reflectors (lof, cracks,..) for thicker sections.and recommended multiple linear passes with s-scan for component greater than 25mm.an adequate number of flaws should be used in the demonstrations block to ensure detectability for entire weld volume.

Mostly applicable to linear scans and for thicker sections that illuminate part of the weld
