PAUT Probes Both Sides of Weld

Please explain if PAUT Probes on both sides of the weld will there signals interfere with each other? As in a Cobra Scanner setup or equivalent

No. Because each probe is controlled with difference pulses when you set up for 2 groups of probes.

Each probe is controlled by same pulser with different channel and different time.but if you connect each probe to separate PAUT machine and put the probes infront of each other then you will get interference signals.
May be your issue coming from high PRF( usually happen when the part length is short and PRF is high ,the signals reflected back from corners to probes and make ghost echo).
Also check start channel for second probe and it should be match with splitter and equipment channels.for example if you have 32:128 PAUT machine and 64:64 splitter,you should set start channel (start elements or start pin ) in machine for first probe 1 , second probe 65 .if start elements for both probe is same,it means only 2 group are created from one probe and you will see same indication in both S- scan or E-scan.

Thank you for the reply! So just to clarify all elements “fire” from same pulser but each element is fired in sequence (different start time)? Therefore the first probe has sent and received before the second probe starts to send or the second probe starts to send while the first is receiving? If so how do the wavefronts not oppose each other?

Sorry for delay.All focal laws should be completed one by one in each group or each probe ,so the focal laws won't interfere each other.you can also set specify focal laws to transmit by probe one and receive by probe 2(like TOFD channel that created by pair of PAUT probes ,coupling channel or tandem configuration for thick J bevel configuration).
