UTPA Probe Selection

Hello everyone!

My company want to buy olympus omniscan x3 32/128, so i have question about choosing probes.
We have joint from 8-70mm thick. Type of joint V;X;K...
we would like to choose probes that will allow us to make fewer scans and do it in accordance with EN13588,
the deviation from the optimal hit is plus/minus 6 degrees.
so what heads should we choose 32 elements or 64?
referring to the norm, we should perform two types of scan:escan and sscan in class B.

Tomasz,
You need at least one pair of 5Mhz 64 element probes (I recommend with elements pitch less than 1 mm to have good beam steering) then you can run Compound scan(combination of linear and S scan) or FMC if you want to get good coverage and appropriate angles for inspection but still I am not sure that you can cover the all fusion face by +-6 degree for 70 mm by one pass scaning.for thin welds you can select low profile 16 or 32 element probes to have better access to root in half skip.if there are Austenitic welds in your inspection plan, you should also focus on DLA or DMA probes.
