Inspection of Pipes for cracks

Dear NDT gurus,
I'm an MSc Mechtronics student and my project is to
develop a sensor for NDT of a pipe for cracks/defects.

Currently I'm using audible sound exciting circumferential
waves, trying to measure changes in amplitude/frequency.
Results are not very promissing.

Any ideas about how to construct a sensor that
will be able to scan length of the pipe?

Any answer is appreciated.

ch protocol that will tell you and others whether you have developed something worth using. With one of the inaccurate measures that have been traditional in NDT, people won't know much about that.
