MPI Underwater

Does anybody could give some knowledge of how to carried out UT and MPI for underwater, i means that the technique used and equipment used.

There are several UT single point measurement techniques and products for single point measurement (Cygnus for example).
also there is a Guided wave (LRUT) technique called GUL Subsea system for underwater inspection of long lengths of pipes.

If you are looking at MPI underwater, you should consider ACFM. This was developed for inspecting welded tubular structures underwater and has several advantages for detecting surface-breaking defects: it can be used 24 hours per day, it provides defect depth information, it provides auditable results and doesn't rely on operator interpretation, and it doesn't require cleaning to bright metal.

You can contact Force Technology from Denmark. They have sub sea UT application system mainly used for Off Shore drilling projects. www.forcetechnology.com will give more info for you.

NEWT International has an excellent lightweight system for underwater inspection, which has displaced MPI for defect detection and sizing. The system is very portable. It doesn't use a high voltage AC supply in the umbilical as it was designed to use only a single twisted pair in an umbilical, which can be on a ROV, in a diver's umbilical or a separate lightweight cable.
