Is it required to do a check on beam spread periodically?

Recalling the ASME Code, it was required when you were to size a flaw. Currently flaw sizing using Time of Flight (TOF) methods and Creeping Wave methods this is no longer required.

Generally, when using a dB drop flaw sizing method you tend to size the beam spread when the flaw is smaller than the beam spread.

: dont just read, think. sound will propagate through a medium as a hemisphere regardless of wavelength. the so called beam spread is the use of 3 angles of different intensities. tofd would not work if you think of sound as a beam. as i said before read think and understand. dont be mindless and regurgitate someone elses miscomprehension
