Selection of IQI/Radition source

dear experts,

we are doing radiographic testing of piping weldments,the dimension of our job as detail given below:-

OD OF PIPE/Single wall thickness

141/6.55 mm
168.3/7.11 mm

class of testing EN 1435 CLASS B

question is:-
what type of source we have to used.

which wire should be vissible on radiograph.(IQI 10 10 FE EN).

also let me know what is penetrated thickness.

Contract documentation should specify if there are any limitations further than the moninated Code. So the Owner's specification may say "X-ray only", even though the Codes usually permit either X or gamma within material thickness limitations. Low kV X-ray gives better images in most cases than commercially available gamma sources, though I have read that Selenium can give good results on thinner materials.

Your required visible wire is one that indicates better then 2% sensitivity so its diameter should be less than 6.55mm x 0.02 = 0.131mm or 7.11mm x 0.02 = 0.142mm

Penetrated thickness for Ug unsharpness calculation is the single wall thickness (6.55 or 7.11mm) + single measured weld reinforcement.
