Radial Surface Waves

Does anyone have some references about using radial surface waves
from short focused transducers to detect surface and near surface
defects and material property variations?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Mr. Sebastian Gripp of our organisation has realized an industrial solution for surface testing of contoured turbine discs applying a specific rayleigh wave probe. The corresponding paper has been presented at the WCNDT in Rome last fall.

Re: Radial Surface Waves
Mr Gripp's paper is available at:
Surface Crack Detection Using Rayleigh Waves - in immersion: A Novel Application of a Known Principle
http://www.ndt.net/article/wcndt00/papers/idn031/idn031.htm

Also I would like to take the opportunity to introduce a problem of the email address used in the forum message.
Albrecht Maurer used in his message the email address "albrecht_maurer@nukem.de",
but his Member Profile is registers with the email address "Nutronik@Nukem.de".
The system can set Profile and Exhibitors links only according to the registered Forum Profiles.

Mr. Maurer's Profile: http://www.ndt.net/wshop/profile/profiles/123.htm
NUKEM Nutronik GmbH: http://www.ndt.net/exhibit/stand/15_ky.htm

That means you shall use for forum messages always the email address of the profile.

Best regards
Rolf Diederichs

.I hope this will clarify the points. For past 3 years we are working on developing sensors and system for surface and subsurface characterization of materials in terms of surface velocities and amplitude information and we have a success. We have full facility at University which one can take advantage. The University is McMaster in Hamilton, Ontario or at Fallon Ultrasonics Inc in Hamilton.

Regards

Dr. Patel

SONOAIR - air-coupled Phased Array Ultrasonic Inspection System

For highly attenuating materials, the performance of the system is critical. The ultrasonic sensors,

the scanning area and the system settings should be flexibly adapted to the test task and the material. These high expectations are met with the new and modular testing system SONOAIR. With the world’s first air-coupled phased-array UT inspection system SONOAIR we developed a technology that works with up to 4 transmitter and receiver channels with freely configurable square wave burst transmitters as wells as low noise receiving amplifiers.
