On other hand, Our customer need to inspect the ten inchs Gas-online pipeline was installed underground and passing river . This pipeline cannot pigging due to bend and now we want to inspect pipeline, pls advice us the method and who can perform this work?

Hi Thang

You should try to contact Chris Broekmeulen (cbroekmeulen@roseninspection.net) or Rick Meyer (rmeyer@roseninspetion.net) from Rosen Inspection. They are experts regarding your inspection task and Rosen is available worldwide

Good luck!

Ingo

The condensate storage tanks do you want to make an on-line assessment or an out of service inspection.

If in service you could use Acoustic Emission look at Physical Acoustics Corporation who have facilities and service entities in South East Asia or consider a Tank Robot such as Intank from TechCorr who are in India but I am not sure about South East Asia.

If its an out of service inspection then the normal approach would be to MFL (or similar) floor scan the floor once clean. The are numerous entities around South East Asia who have floorscanners Intestmal Malaysia, Rosen Malaysia, IRS Singapore, Applus RTD to name a few.

The pipeline may not be unpiggable just because of bend radius you need to have a conversation with the pigging vendors - they have a range of capabilities these days. Consider options such as making the line piggable - if its one bend that controls the issue a short shutdown to change the bend may be feasible. There are a range of ILI companies GE PII, Rosen, BJ Services, NDE Systems, AGR, Applus RTD. If the line is truely non piggable consider externally applied options suchas Long Range UT - multiple vendors in South East Asia.

Regards

Dear Mr.John,

Thank for your comments, for the tank we want to make an out of service not on-line assestment therefore we shall shutdown and clean floor before inspection. Besides performing MFL and Floor scan, should we have to perform UT and vacum test welding of butom floor? if can pls give me inspection procedure for tank?

For Gas-online pipeline, we can not change bend so that can not apply the pigging. As your comments the LRUT technologies can apply for this pipeline, i would like to ask you that the LRUT run along whole of pipeline or it is just inspection random point on the pipeline?

Thank and best Regard

Nguyen Thang

The standard requirements as a minimum for an out of service inspection of an aboveground storage tank can be found in API 653 (especially review the checklists in Appendix C). Ideally this is developed in conjunction with a risk assessment that will allow you to focus on the critical damage modes. Scanning the tank floor for plate loss due to corrosion is common whilst inspection of the welds may be less common and only conducted if something drives you to be concerned about the welds or you have undertaken repairs.

You need to be consulting with someone who has experience in the inspection of storage tanks and I woud strongly recommend you employ an API Certified Inspector (or equivelent).

LRUT is not designed for screening hundreds of miles of pipeline but it can be used to screen areas for further investigation. If the pipeline is truely unpiggable you should conduct a threat assessment (see ASME B31.8S as a starting point). Match this threat assessment with other input data from corrosion monitoring , external coating surveys (DCVG & CIPS) and then plan out taking data at high consequence or corrosion liable areas.

On a forum we can only really give pointers for you to pursue you really need to consult with integrity specialists.
