Exemption of Hydro test/Pneumatic tests

Are NDT tests/examinations can replace Hydro test/Pneumatic test of Pressure Vessels? If so which code?

if this is for new build vessels then you have problems getting around the requirements. Most codes pretty much insist unless the test poses a risk to the vessel or environment - for example hydrotesting a refractory lined vessel would be apoor choice. If this is for an in-service requirement post repair or replaceemnt you have more options. Look to API 510 to give guidance. You need to work with a pressure vessel engineer and NDE specialist to detrmine if the appied NDE can justify waiving the test.

Mr. O'Brien covered this pretty well. For vessels already in service, API-510 requires the concurrence of a 510 certified Inspector [who has inspected your vessel] and a pressure vessel engineer. For new ASME vessels the Inspector would be the Authorized Inspector.
