UT Question

A question for you UT guys,
We could be reducing a 6m length of s355 250/150?12.5 *6 to 240/150/12.5 (I don't know why they want to do this as we can get this in) How long would it take to UT a section of this?

It will be a single V on both sides.

I'm just looking for an approximate sort of time (give or take what ever probs/set
backs or hassle free) not pin point.

Re: UT Question
My general rule-of-thumb is 1-2 ft/minute, so about 1/2 meter/minute. The 'gotcha!' is that indications take 5-15 minutes each. Thus the time is in the defects found, not the scanning time. I have found enough 'stuff' in 12 meters of weld to keep me busy all day.

If a full formal report of each defect is not required, only marking of the defects and depths, such that the welder can perform repairs, plan on 2-5 minutes per defect.

Hi Roger,

I was thinking all day but just wanted to make sure so i'll say 8/10 hrs but could poss be longer all depends on the weld.

ISAFE3 Intrinsically Safe Sensor System

ISAFE3 intrinsically safe sensor system of Vallen Systeme is especially targeted at the petrochemica
...
l - as well as oil and gas transportation industry. The sensor system is designed for permanent monitoring or periodic inspection tasks. Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications. The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation. ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.
