ECT on Phenolic Impregnated Graphite tubes in Heat Exchager

Dear Members,
We want to carry out Eddy Current Testing on Heat exchangers tubes having material of Phenolic Impregnated Graphite. Size: 2" OD X 1 1/2" ID and about 6 meter long.
So the Thickness of the tube is 6.35 mm.
I want to know that Which method shall be used for Eddy current testing.
What will be the effect of Impregnated Phenolic on Conductivity of Graphite?
what will be the frequency to be used and type of probe?

The inspection of Graphite tubes can be done with the use of special designed eddy current probes. We have done sucessful a few inspections in the past. As always with eddy current techniques, you need a calibration tube with natural or machined calibration defects to find a proper setting and to evaluate the eddy current signals you receive during the inspection.

You are welcome to contact us directly for further support.

is there a possibility of training a group in the united states to perform ECT of graphite tubes? We would be starting from scratch but we have vast need for learning and being able to perform these inspections for our plant site. Thank You.

Patented Acoustic Pulse Reflectometry (APR) is the best solution for such tube inspection as it is material, material thickness, tube shape independent inspection technology. For such inspection services you can let us know your requirement in detail and we will guide you to the nearest service provider.
Arsie Global are the patent holders for APR technologies (www.ariseglobal.com).

For purchase of these new APR units named APRIS, please contact sales@talcyon.com
(www.talcyon.com) our sister company. Thanks.

ISAFE3 Intrinsically Safe Sensor System

ISAFE3 intrinsically safe sensor system of Vallen Systeme is especially targeted at the petrochemica
...
l - as well as oil and gas transportation industry. The sensor system is designed for permanent monitoring or periodic inspection tasks. Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications. The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation. ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.
