13:30 Jul-21-2009 Underground Line Integrity Checking
This is regarding underground line integrity checking.I have already posted once through this forum.I got some positive replies. But we are exploring something more.
We have two underground line which is nearly 3.5m below the ground level.Distance between this line is almost 2m.The line is 48" dia having external wrapping coating. This lines are protected by ICCP system. It run almost 4 to 5 km underground.
We are exploring some technique by which integrity of line is assured without excavation, without pigging.
Is there is any proven technique available that can tell that external wrapping coating of this line is in good condition as we are not expecting any internal corrosion in these lines.
The Basque Research centre IK4-IDEKO has developed a state-of-the-art ultrasonic inspection system f
or the train wheel. This system secures a sound condition of train wheels and is thus a significant contribution to rail transport safety. The device was delivered to CAF recently and its use allows the manufacturer to become an approved supplier of rolling stock in Italy, as it meets the demanding homologation standards of this country. \\\\r\\\\n
