I do believe that PCN certification, that is carried on UK is the most widely accepted.
After I finalize my level 2 certification on ABENDI, this will be my next move.
Good luck. |

Creed...the certification "required" is usually dictated by the client or regulating body used for the work. At the moment no ASNT TC-1A descriptions are available for these.
CSWIP has a full certification programme for TOFD and phased-array inspections of welds. It also has a certification for MFL in some applications.

We do a full Advanced UT Training for TOFD and PA, under ASNT and EN 473 (SKO and PCN approved). You can find our training course schedule on our website under training, downloads.

Creed,
Ed is correct, the required certification is something that would be demanded by your client or Notified Body or maybe even your companies own Written Practise.
Having said that, there are certain basic principles involved here that would definately apply in Europe and North America and probably also in your part of the world. You cannot apply inspection methods such as Phased Array and ToFD without first having been trained in ultrasonics to an acceptable level in the basic principles and having gained experience in using ultrasonics in the field. Once you have been adequately trained and have obtained the necessary experience, then you can progress to up-market inspection methods. A quick check of 2 well known training institutes in the UK showed - as I believe it should be - that candidates for their ToFD courses have to already be qualified to level 2 in UT, I'm sure that this would also be the case at Sonovation. |
