Steel reinforcement

I would like to have some suggestions concerning any NDT method for the evaluation of the corrosion of the reinforcement bars of some concrete structures. Please take into account that, if needed, some portions of the concrete can be also demolished to expose directly the steel bars.

There is a method called electro-chemical potential measurement that allows a relatively quick survey be made for suspected corrosion areas. Only experienced persons should carry out such examinations since a number of parameters has influence on the results.

There are at least two standards on electro-chemical potential measurements:

1. Swiss standard:

2. U.S.-American standard:
