shear couplant

Following the "Classified Ad" from Kris van der Ostyne:

When you say a shear wave couplant, do you mean what I think that you mean; a couplant that will transmit a shear wave? If so, crystallized honey is good at room temperature, I remember a colleague who recommended chocolate. Neither of these will be much good except perhaps at the lower end of the temperature range you quote. There are proprietary couplants available for a) shear coupling, b)high temperature. I think Krautkrämer did some - but I am not sure if they satisfy conditions a) and b) with one product.

Have you thought of a solid-coupled high temp probe? I know KANDE offer this. Contact Ian Atkinson at ian.atkinson@kandeinternational.co.uk for info.
