Circumferential scanning by UT

Q. Circumferential angle beam scanning is carried out form OD surface using 60 Degree shear wave angle beam probe on a tubular forging whose OD is 400mm and ID is 320 mm. The effective coverage in this scan is ?

I have used the formula for above question is
X=OD/2(1-SIN60)

but couldnt get the answer

am I correct?

help me..

The following formulas can be used to determine the refracted angle and impinging angles for circumferential scans.

a.) To determine the refracted angle of the shear wave from the probe, use the following formula:
sin › 1 = (sin › 2 * Velocity Shear)/Velocity Longitudinal

b.) To determine the impinging angle at the ID surface, use the following formula:
sin › 2 = sin › 1 * (Inner Diameter)/Outer Diameter

ID radius / OD radius = Sin-1 (maximum angle use for inspection)
160mm / 200mm = 0.8 = 53.1°

90° - 53.1° = 36.9° (angle spread between surface and maximum angle used for inspection)

1° = WT / Sin-1 (ID radius / OD radius)
40mm (WT) / 36.9° = 1.084mm per degree

90° - 60° (your probe angle) = 30°
30° * 1.084mm = 32.52mm

Hi,
In EPOCH 600 from Olympus is "CSC" function, if you enter Outer Diameter for example 400mm and thickness 80 mm he will calculate right angle and sound path (trigonometry).
