Crack detection

Dear All
We are producing punches and dies for the tabletting machines (presses) in the pharmaceutical industry. Currently, we have been sourcing a crack detection equipment (for very fine cracks) for surface and sub-surface cracks.Eventhough we have liquid penetrant and optical measurement equipment in place, these methods are time consuming eventhough very effective. The ideal method should detect the cracks within less than a minute. Our products are made of steel and average material thickness is 16 mm. If you suggest any method or equipment which allows us perform the test in less than a minute and also precise, this would be highly appreciated.
Meanwhile, we tried Eddy current method and this did not give the expectant results, was not effective. For more information about our products, you can visit our web site.

Could Magnetic Particle-Fluorescent, Ultrasonic test or Magnetic Barkhausen Noise method be the answer?
Thank you in advance

Re: Crack detection
You might consider resistivity measurement. 4 point pin resisitivity measures very fine chganges in measurement resistance over a set pin spacing. Changes in resisitivity due to prescence of a crack are possible. Once set up properly it is less than a minute per spot. If you wish to pursue please contact me.

Re: Crack detection
You might consider ACFM (Alternating Current Field Measurement). Very accurate and fast for measuring surface breaking cracks. Can work in high temperatures as well and gives a recordable image.
