Congratulations on 21 years of NDT.net

Can I be the first to start this topic and say what a great job Rolf has done.

Happy Anniversary NDT.net! And thank you Rolf for the continued great service.
Perhaps the Polish greeting "Sto Lat" is appropriate here (may NDT.net be with us 100 years).

I join you in congratulating Rolf for the excellent service done to the NDT community through this site.

In Sanskrit, we say Satamaanam Bhavati loosely translating as may you live to be hundred....the full text of the mantra or hymn is:

Satamanam bhavati
Satayuh(f) purushas'
satendriya Ayush
yevendriye' pratitishthati

So, God bless this community in general and Rolf in particular....

Swamy

P.S: My association is probably less than 20 years....may be 17 or 18? Can't remember now....

It surprised me a lot that Joe posted congratulations for not a round number of 21 Years NDT.net.

Many thanks for the praise in this thread, however, I would take the chance to look a bit more critical on the situation. I personally feel not so happy about the achievements after 21 years. In particular I am missing still more NDT Societies in Open Access contributions to our NDT repository. Open Access is all around the world a big theme, but often with little knowledge how to do it. Many people do not know that the key for a successful Open Access and for the benefits of authors and the community is a central thematic repository (archive) like NDT.net offers. Many people thinking that an article in an university/institutional would be sufficient, but in fact only a few people can find a specific paper in an general university archive. Frequently (just this morning) I had to communicate (sometimes like battles) with organizers from NDT events (often NDT societies) to raise their awareness. With some NDT societies from countries like India, Italy, USA, UK etc. I gave already up because I feel like speaking against walls. In fact there are today not more contributing countries as it was already 20 years ago. Why ICNDT cannot play a better role?

What about NDT industry support? Obviously we need their advertising to keep the site running. Especially the entire NDT market benefits (making money) a lot from this website. Many other markets would be happy to have such a website for their industry. Today Internet technology is much more complicate than 20 years ago and a big portal needs more financial resources for to keep it running than we have it today. I am wondering why we lost 5 sponsors during the last years. Why so many people of companies using the discussions in the forum for promotion their products but not registering for little money a stand in the online exhibition.

I hope I have not stirred up a hornet's' nest!

Most satisfied I am from the growth of the forum, but also here we would need more resources for to making it better like updating it for more mobile friendly.

Thanks,

Rolf

P.S. Congratulations on 20 years NDT.net (Jan-02-2016)
