Isovolt 160TL X-ray Equipment

We have mobile industerial X-ray type isovolt 160Tl with control ES 2 , the gas pressure inside the high voltage generator has gone byond the recommended level ( 2.5 bar) and we want to re-fill it , any body knows that type of gas used with this type of equipment

Just ask the manufacturer. The brand name ISOVOLT belongs to Seifert (Ahrensburg near Hamburg, Germany). The owners have changed, therefore ask your local representative of General Electrics (resp. Krautkramer resp. Agfa).

Hello!
If you did not reach Seifert yet are not afraid to get an advice from their competitor...
So. The unit looks being old and of "low pressure" technology, so you can add some SF6 yourself. This gas is quite common as it used also in electric power generation, etc. Usually it goes in big cylinders, so you will need 1) pressure regulator 2) proper adaptor valve.
To check what adaptor do you need - open the small cover on generator tank? usually near manometer, and if there is a car tire nipple - that is! If the nipple is of different type, close it and forget about repairing yourself.
I mentioned "low pressure" (2,5 to 3,5 bar) because tanks with higher pressure require a vacuum pump te refill. In your case you must only add some SF6 to move the pressure gauge needle just above the green mark, and even in case some air will come inside there would be no harm to your equipment.
I have done this several times on Philips COP generators and Philips/Toshiba tanksets with success.
But modern sets with high pressure tanks have smaller insulation gaps and I do not recommend to refill yourself. Usually it is prohibited at all as any air, dust or moisture coming inside will degrade the dielectric strength of the insulation, even dust particle can explode inside making the unit inoperatible (permanent flash-over above certain kV).

In any case - do not hesitate to chase me also by E-mail,
Yours Aye,

ILYA
