BS EN ISO 9712 and hold PCN Level 2 certification

Hello everybody, can anyone explain the following facts.

NDT Personnel shall be accredited in accordance with BS EN ISO 9712 and hold PCN Level 2 certification for Liquid Penetrant testing of General sector products (castings, forgings and weldments)

Are 2 qualifications required here?
Once the ISO 9712 and in addition to PNC Level 2?Is the PNC independent Qaulification?

Thank you for your help.

Frank

ISO 9712 is the standard for Non-destructive testing — Qualification and certification of NDT personnel. The BS and EN show that the standard has been published in Britain and Europe. The important part is the ISO which stands for International Standards Organisation. PCN is one of the providers of certification to ISO 9712, there are many other bodies around the World who are also providers and their schemes have different names and will mention locally published versions of ISO 9712.

Hello Mr. John Moody,

Thank you for the answer. In this case, "PCN" is comparable to the NDT training center "Dgzfp" in Germany.

Have I understood that correctly?

Thanks for an answer.

Greeting Frank

Hello Frank,

There are differences between the Certification Schemes but both are ISO 9712 compliant. PCN is audited by UKAS to verify this and I would expect that "Dgzfp" are audited by the German national accreditation body.

Regards, John.
