Olympus 38DL Plus Question

Hello all,

I recently acquired a 38DL Plus from Olympus and am currently attempting to measure the thickness of the 303 Stainless Reference (P/N: 2218E) that came with the instrument utilizing a M202-RM Delay Line Single Transducer (10 MHz). However I can not for the life of me get anything other than a "LOS" measurement and when calibrating it says the calibration fails each time.

Thoughts? For reference I am using Olympus Couplant-B (P/N: B-2)

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

Sorry to ask this question, but need to know whether you have applied the couplant between the delay and the transducer?

Between the delay and the transducer? Is it not supposed to be placed on the calibration piece itself?

You have to apply couplant between the delay line and the transducer in order for the sound to pass through the delay .

After that , you can take your measurements as usual , by placing the couplant on the test block

Let us know if it works

Is there any need to calibrate the device before taking a measurement? Every time I try to calibrate a thick and thin piece it fails with "Calibration value invalid".

Dear Mark,

Please open the probe delay block and apply some Couplant and again fix it.

Then you fix the probe and select the probe XDCR recall and single line transducer .

Then press 2nd F and Cal Zero.
Is this giving you any zero value. If it is giving some value is very good.

Calibrate now. you will definitely able to calibrate
