IQI Rrequirements

What would the IQI requirements be for carbon steel pipe with Stainlness steel cladding?
What material would your IQI be made of and what thickness would you base it on?

You IQI selection would be the same for either material. ASME SE-1025, referenced in ASME V, Article 2, groups carbon and stainless steels in the same material group (Group 1) and requires the IQI to be manufactured from either carbon steel or 300 series stainless.

Sorry-base you IQI selection on the material thickness under examination, including any weld reinforcement allowed by the referencing code section. The above two answers are based on you using the ASME code. For others (AWS/API etc.) use the code requirements. IF your code referes you to ASME V, then the above applies. Good luck.

So if you are shooting a 1" thick c/s pipe with 1/8" thick s/s cladding on the ID, you would base your IQI on 1" of c/s and not the cladding? Is that correct?

Good point. I believe that since clad is added after the weld is completed, the weld and reinforcement should be examined by RT first, using the appropriate IQI. After the clad is added, that would be examined by PT. I believe this is as stated in ASME III NB-5272. Can't say for other codes.
