Detemine exposure rate with given activity

Hi guys! Can somebody explain to me the relationship of Rem and curie. how can i determine the exposure rate alets say at 1 meter with a given Curie. Say you have 15 curie, what is the exposure rate in a meter (mR). pls provide calculations to help me with logic.

From this site (NDT A-Z) a Curie is the unit used to describe the intensity of radioactivity in a sample of material. The curie is equal to 37 billion (3.7 x 1010) disintegrations per second, which is approximately the activity of 1 gram of radium. The Becquerel (Bq) has replaced the Ci in the SI system. The Becquerel (Bq) is 1 disintegration per second.

Where a Rem (Roentgen Equivalent Man) is an older, CGS unit of equivalent dose, effective dose, and committed dose which are measures of the health effect of low levels of ionizing radiation on the human body.

As for establishing an exposure for a given activity, this is a little different. Beside a given activity, one has to consider the Source such as Cobalt, Iridium, Ceasium and others. Each of them produce Gamma radiation of different intensity which will result in different exposure requirement. The other important consideration is the part under examination. Is it steel, magnesium, aluminium; is is a casting, a welding or a forging; what is its thickness?

There are slide rulers available to help you establish an exposure and you for the younger generation, apps like GE Exposure Calculator are also available for your phone. What ever method you choose, if you are doing the same pieces or similar pieces all the time, I suggect making a technique that you can follow afterward.
