Teflon lined Carbon Steel Pipe

Looking for best practice for validating integrity of Teflon lined carbon steel pipe. We currently have very rudimentary NDT skills, and while we UT unlined pipe, not sure how best to address teflon lined pipe.

Jeff
the most successful method of testing lined pipe is to use RFT, which is an electromagnetic technique and completely unaffected by any non-ferromagnetic lining, and we have successfully inspected pipe with liners up to 1" thick

Do you know of any way to test the remaining thickness of the liner?

What is the nominal thickness? it may be possible with magnetic liftoff, but I don't think there is an ILI tool that is available to do that.

Sorry but the question simply doesn't have enough information to begin a solution.
What is the thickness of the steel pipe, the diameter, the thickness of the teflon, how is the telfon applied to the pipe, what is the service fluid, the service temperature, what is the thinning mechanism, are the welds ground smooth on the inside, where do you have to test?

the best method for this case is Advanced NDT technique called Lixi Profiler for thickness measurements (Radioactive machine with low radiation source).
this system reading the density of materials (CS pipe, Teflon, product in pipe etc.)

ISAFE3 Intrinsically Safe Sensor System

ISAFE3 intrinsically safe sensor system of Vallen Systeme is especially targeted at the petrochemica
...
l - as well as oil and gas transportation industry. The sensor system is designed for permanent monitoring or periodic inspection tasks. Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications. The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation. ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.
