ensure all cracking is repaired

I'm a newbee on UT and only know a enough to be dangerous....I'm sure by my question you will probably have guessed that.
IF a person did WFMPI and found cracks, then did creep wave to verify cracks are gone, is this really an effective tool to ensure all cracking is repaired?

Hi Chris,
"Creeping Wave" isn't a ultrasonic inspection I would advocate. If you are searching for cracking on the examination surface, a surface method like PT/MT/EC would be the *go to* method. If UT must be used, a full skip inspection should be used with varying angles. In the case full skip inspection is not possible, it may be possible to use a surface wave probe. The client should be made aware of the potential limitations of the UT inspections.

There is no such wave in elastic media called creeping wave. This is 75 deg L-wave probe. Unless the probe sits on top of the crack, you will see no surface cracks.
Anyone who is more interested should read paper by Ginzel on the - Truth of Creeping wave
