D1.2 code vs what the company wants

I'm inspecting welds for a company and they are asking for a minimum fillet weld size. I am inspecting to d1.2 so does their specifications trump the code? So they want a 3/16" filled minimum but don't care if its over and the code says for 3/16" they're allowed 1/16. Are they okay to do that?

I have seen this type of requirement many time. The client what the job done done to a code, but there is an exception. When a situation like this arise, in your report you should state the inspection was done to code but the client request the fillet weld to be a minimum of 3/16'' and that maximum is of no concern. Get the client to sign the statement or prior to doing the work have the client signed a similar statement on the work order. There maybe reasons why the client has this requirement.

Teledyne ICM’s CPSERIES has been designed with a view to revolutionizing the handling and perfor
mances of portable X-Ray sets. Despite having managed to halve the weight of similar portable X-Ray generators available on the market (while continuing to provide the same power output), the SITEX CPSERIES generators feature a shutter, a laser pointer, a beryllium window, an aluminum filter and two integrated diaphragms (customized sizes are available upon request). Without compromising the robustness and reliability for which ICM products are renowned, the small size and light weight of the SITEX CPSERIES will radically change the way that you perform your RT inspections. And you will see a positive impact in terms of both quality and return on investment (ROI).
