wrought iron inspection

Dear all;
In Australia, we have numerous wrought iron rail bridges that are +100yrs old.
Some of these bridges have a couple of issues with corrosion of the original material post modification.
The configuration in question is a sandwich of 2 x 18mm mild steel outer, added with 1 x 6mm original wrought iron inner.
For further reference, the inner is a I beam web and the outers are web stiffeners that were added to provide additonal strength to the member.
Other than RT, what portable alternative methods / new technologies are available for the detection of gross corrosion / wall loss (>25%) of the inner web in a timely manner??????
Note, access is not a problem and survey of outer web stiffeners is also not a problem.

the scanning area and the system settings should be flexibly adapted to the test task and the material. These high expectations are met with the new and modular testing system SONOAIR. With the world’s first air-coupled phased-array UT inspection system SONOAIR we developed a technology that works with up to 4 transmitter and receiver channels with freely configurable square wave burst transmitters as wells as low noise receiving amplifiers.

l - as well as oil and gas transportation industry. The sensor system is designed for permanent monitoring or periodic inspection tasks. Sensors are available for different AE-frequency ranges optimized for corrosion and fatigue crack detection and other applications. The ISAFE 3 sensor system consists of an AE-sensor (model ISAS3) certified according to ATEX/IEC for installation in zone 0, gas group IIC, IP68, 20 to +60 °C, and a signal isolator (model SISO3) certified for installation in zone 2. An ISAS3 sensor can be mounted in atmosphere or submerged, e.g. in water or crude oil. It is supported by mounting tools for temporary (magnets) or permanent (welded) installation. ISAFE3 supports automatic sensor coupling test and can be used with any AE signal processor supporting 28V supply at 90 mA peak, e.g. Vallen Systeme ASIP-2/A.
