Hello Debdutta,

What sort of testing do you want to perform on the rail? Are you following any certain code, or prefer one NDT technique over another? There are many ways to test rail and have many papers written about techniques. The ASNT handbook has an excellent section on rail, wheel and axle analysis. Much of the work from the ASNT handbook was developed by Sperry Rail, Harsco (now part of Sperry) and the American Association of Railraod (AAR)
