We have to use the light meter to measure the quantity of light from the viewer, if the viewer is meant for measuring film density of 4 , find the incident light requirement using the Code requiremnt at the surface of the viewer,

Assume 30 lux of transmited light on 4 density film is required for better viewing by normal eye condition then using the log priciple ,30 X 10,000 lux of incident light is required on the surface of viewer, but you cannot measure this high quantity light by normal low range light meters( in the market available meters having maximum 3000 lux only), so measure the light intensity in a pre determine vertical ( 750mm) distance from the viewer middle surface and calculate the amount of light intensity on the viewer by using inverse square law priciple.the calculated light must be more than 300,000 lux on the surface,( this value may vary if you asume differnt value of transmitted light indensity)
