A problem with Magnetic Testing

Hi,
On welding of tube, 5ox5mm with two differents materials (SA213T91 and SA213T22)we have a linear indication (longitudinal),from Magnetic Testing.
Can you give us an explanation, about the origin of this problem?
Best regards, waiting for solution to this problem.

This can be quite a common problem if there is a significant permeability difference between the two steels. What you are most likely seeing is the flux leakage occurring at the permeability change

It is best to follow up such indications with a dye penetrant procedure to determine the absence of a weld defect.
Or switch to a non magnetic surface test procedure.
In one instance I came across a faulty weld procedure after doing a PMI out of curiosity of such an indication.
148 cut outs and 26 pups later the problem was corrected... (six day overrun on a shutdown due to one typo)
