What type of product are you looking to inspect? I have a contact in US who makes system for round product inspection in grinders.

It depends heavily on what you are inspecting:- conductive, insulating, of irregular shape etc., as well as wether you can tolerate pressures or couplant fluids on the part under test.

Metal parts; flat or curved surface; pressure and couplant gel are acceptable.

I am developing an auto-inspection system using contact UT. Constant coupling of ultrasound into part is a concern. We are interested in a device (or fixture, coupling mechanism) to ensure consistent coupling. Commercially available product is highly desirable. Information on an overall system is also appreciated.

The access surfaces of the parts to be inspected can be flat, or curved (OD of cylinder).

What about water perhaps with an inhibitor and a surfactant? Probe and wedge manufacturers will be able to provide you with wedges with stragetically sited drilled holes in a groove on the base of the wedge connected by bayonet-fittings to a water supply through a small bore tube. Cleanliness of the water supply is essential - it should be potable water. This is used for offshore AUT where the pipes can be still hot when the probes come into contact with the surface.

Devise some form of couplant-monitoring.
