Railway couplers NDT testing

Has anybody been using any NDT method for railway coupler's crack detection without taking it out of the car?

Thanks

When a tailpin broke on a passenger train allowing the interconnecting corridor to be open to the track, NEWT International was called in to produce a special probe to allow in-situ inspection. This enabled the inspection to take minutes with the vehicles over a maintainance depot pit between the morning and evening rush hours. Without the use of our kit, the vehicles would have had to be withdrawn from service and a lot of man-hours used in dismantling and reassembly.

The attached link to a .PDF file gives you some more detail on this application. Please let us know if you need any more information.
