Alternative ASME UT calibration blocks

I recently came across the PID-UT-1 and PID-UT-2 ASME alternative calibration blocks on several suppliers' websites. Are these referred to in the latest issue of ASME V and thus applicable to any other Code sections unless specifically exempted? Are they intended for general fabrication work or in-service only. Can anybody refer me to documents which stipulate when and how to use them or are they simply replacement alternatives to T-434.3. If they fulfill the function of replacing the piping cal block range then it would serve a very useful function.

I look forward to any replies

Regards

Nigel
