Re: True colour reproduction This is a common requirement in graphic design. While I do not have specific information, I do know that there are "color matching systems" that allow the monitor to be calibrated. You might try a search for color management or color matching.
My Macintosh monitor came with software to calibrate initially and maintain accurate color as the CRT ages...

Re: True colour reproduction Nowadays, a user can easily calibrate a color monitor with an optional supplied colorimeter, or without an instrument using a powerful set of visual calibration screens.
