Ultrasonic stress control of stay bolts in petrochemical items

Has anyone heard about an UT testing system for stress monitoring of stay bolts (screw stay) in petrochemical items such as heat exchanger, etc...
It seems that only two equipments exist: one of Krautkramer and one of a Belgian Company (STF).
Does anyone have any information about that ?
Thank you.

I Think the Belgian company you mean is SDT
We sell it in the UK
There is a mention on our web-page (www.sonatest-plc.com) more on their own site.

USA company is on www.sdt-usa.com

I dont think KK do this equipment, but their sister company stresstel used to.

Krautkramer has developed a semi-automated eddy current testing
device for the inspection of Inconel wheel tie bolts.

If it does not have to be UT, have a look at TSC's ACSM technique (electromagnetic).

Have you ever heard from the companies UltraFast and Ultracoat?
They have a nice "Smartsensor" solution for your Problem I guess. We use their system for Full-Scale-Fatigue-Tests of aircrafts to monitor stress in bolts within the running time of the test.
The system uses bolts, which will be coated with a piezo-sensor-film which can be read out with portable electronic, determining the stress with a sophisticated algorithm.
see their homepages www.ultrafast.com or www.ultracoat.de
This is only an idea; I am not familiar with your applications so it could be no recommendation....

Mr. Marino,
As you know, a torque wrench is not an accurate "tension wrench". There is a new ultrasonic technology for measuring bolt tension. NASA used this new technology on its Space Station bolts.

You may want to see the following web pages for more information.
