Re: ultrasonic level 1
Ro I wish you a long and interesting career in NDT. If you look on the various NDT societies web pages (ASNT, CSNDT, BINDT - you can Google them) they all have book pages where you can decide what suits your pocket. Before you buy from the institutes you can check to see if any are cheaper on eBAy or Amazon.

From a British perspective J C Drury's "Ultrasonic Flaw Detection for Technicians" and Ron Halmshaw's "Mathematics and Formulae for NDT" are excellent handbooks to help you get started practically.

An extra piece of advice is always to read around the subject - materials and metallurgy, design, welding processes, QA/QC, corrosion and its control. Dont forget Codes and Standards - ASME, EN's, API. Join your Instiitute as a student to subscribe to their journal and possibly obtain discounts on publications, training courses, seminars.

Good luck and enjoy.

Nigel

A friend of mine knows a website which he can pull all the questions and answer on NDT testings, for example I am looking for multiple choice quetions on Ultrasonic testing "general knowledge ultrasonic" level one study. If anyone know the site other than the website recommended by David Lavastre please let me know. Thanks

oved signal to noise ratio, characterize, size and analyze defects better with access to several wave mode views and save raw FMC data for higher quality analysis.  Some of the benefits are:
  • Beautiful Image! Easier to understand what you're looking at
  • Completely focused in entire image or volume
  • Much easier to define setups before inspection
  • Easier to decipher geometry echoes from real defects
  • Oriented defects (e.g. cracks) are imaged better
  • See image from different wave modes from one FMC inspection
  • FMC data can be reprocessed/analyzed without going back to the field
