Measuring conductivity and/or resistivity

Hello colleagues,
Can anyone recommend a method and necessary equipment to accurately measure the electrical conductivity of metals? We need to determine and report the actual conductivity in IACS % of raw materials that we'll use to manufacture eddy current calibration standards. The product forms will be sheet, plate, bar, tube and pipe. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Measuring conductivity and/or resistivity
there is an equipment (sigmatest) made by Foerster that is exactly for electrical condutivity measurment on non ferrogmagnetic metals
you can find that equipmente at:
http://www.foerstergroup.com/Maintenance/conductivity_measure3.html

hope that will help you

Few years we use equipment made by GE Inspection Technologies - Phasec 2D. It is portable Eddy Current instrument with electrical condutivity measurment option.
You can see that equipmente at:
http://www.geinspectiontechnologies.com/en/products/eddy_current/phasec2d.html
and download the presize info at:

Also we make an instruemnt for only measuring conductivity called to AutoSigma 3000. More information available here;http://www.geinspectiontechnologies.com/en/products/eddy_current/autosigma.html

In addition to the testing device, I would advise you to purchase a set of NIST traceable standards in the conductivity range you are working in.

oved signal to noise ratio, characterize, size and analyze defects better with access to several wave mode views and save raw FMC data for higher quality analysis.  Some of the benefits are:
  • Beautiful Image! Easier to understand what you're looking at
  • Completely focused in entire image or volume
  • Much easier to define setups before inspection
  • Easier to decipher geometry echoes from real defects
  • Oriented defects (e.g. cracks) are imaged better
  • See image from different wave modes from one FMC inspection
  • FMC data can be reprocessed/analyzed without going back to the field
