Penetrant and Titanium

When performing penetrant inspections on titanium the penetrant should contain no halogenated solvents. I know this to be correct but what is the reason? Does the solvents cause embrittlement or assist corrosion?

Not all solvents cause embrittlement. Leksol from Amity does not. Details can be found at www.amityinternational.com
